The ABCs is a harm-reduction-informed survival manual, a grief journal, and a love letter to staying alive. Rendered in candy-colored, Golden Book–style illustrations, the book moves through underground SF, dumpsters, punk shows, and hospital beds with dark humor. This is not a redemption story, but does contain a sliver of hope.
This memoir is for readers of underground comics, graphic medicine, zinesters and anyone who grew up learning the alphabet the hard way.

P. Lei is first-generation, of immigrants who fled China during WW2, his mother's family to Hong Kong, his father's to Taiwan.
Decades and continents later, he was born and raised in LA, where, amid no small amount of Hollywood BS, drawing, writing and music became his favorite pastimes, pursuits he follows to this day.
He believes suffering is the most important metric in life and hopes to move the needle in a less heart-breaking direction.

Ballad of a Zine
LA December 1993: TC, Dave & Pat launch HEAD MAGAZINE, a B&W, 32pg artzine, sometime during the middle of the 90's Zine Explosion. 5 issues, each with a printing of about 1500 copies, released every couple of months until Xmas 1994. Filled with comic & photo art, poetry & writing, by us, our friends, and eventually out readers, it was free and we offer no apologies. We represented HEAD at the '94 Golden Apple Comics Zinefest (while slow-motion freeway pursuit of OJ's white Bronco was playing out on the TVs overhead.) Our reviews were generally positive in a number of other zines including Fact Sheet Five. And we received solicitations in the mail from as far as Japan and Croatia. Our few thousands quickly disappeared into the flotsom & jetsom that is LA. Head Magazine moved beyond mere obscurity, into the small press library at Beyond Baroque in Venice, into history.

Her mediums include creative non-fiction, illustrated memoir, mini-comics, phtography, zines exploring mental health, addiction and recovery, working class living.
